Description:
Transport perspective on pattern formation in complex fluids flows in porous media
Dr. Nicolas Waisbord, Tufts University
In microfluidic experiments, we investigate the flow of complex and active fluids in micromodels. With these simple tools, we show how surprising pore scale phenomena impact transport at the macro scale. In this talk two subjects will be tackled:
• How finite geometrical disorder suppresses criticality in viscoelastic flow through porous media.
• The consequence of single cell bioconvective pattern on the transport of magnetotactic bacteria
