Faculty Position in Design of Propulsion Systems
The Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of the design of propulsion systems.
The appointment is expected to be at the assistant professor level; in an exceptional case, a senior faculty appointment may be possible. Faculty duties include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of an independent, internationally recognized research program, and supervision of student research.
Candidates must hold an earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field by the beginning of the appointment. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in the design and realization of systems for propulsion of vehicles, including either land or marine transportation. Examples of such systems include innovative powertrain technologies for automobiles, fully electric powered ships, hybrid power systems, embedded control technologies, and systems for energy recovery and storage, among other areas.
Candidates are expected to be able to teach undergraduate and graduate level subjects in design at the component and system level and/or subjects in energy conversion or control. Successful applicants will be expected to establish an independent research program as well as to interact with research groups across the Institute.
