MechE Alum Darryll Pines Named Dean of Engineering at University of Maryland
The University of Maryland has announced that they have chosen Dr. Darryll Pines as dean of their engineering school. Dr. Pines, who previously chaired the aerospace engineering department at UMD, is an alumnus of the Mechanical Engineering Department at MIT, where he received a Ph.D. in 1992 and a M.S. in 1988. In addition to his work at Maryland, Pines has also spent three years as a program manager for the Tactical Technology Office and Defense Sciences Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), where he received a Distinguished Service Medal for his efforts.
