In the Design research area, everything from a steam turbine to a gaming console is conceived, designed, fabricated, assembled, and delivered by an engineer who understands design, manufacturing, sustainability, and the supply chain.
Research Includes: Precision and machine design, product design and development, environment and sustainability, information and sensing, manufacturing process, and systems.
In this year’s Class 2.12: Introduction to Robotics, undergraduate students joined forces to build a robot that can emulate complex human movement with a soccer-theme.
The theme for this year’s product designs was “magic,” and they spanned a broad gamut of possibilities, including a kite-shooting game, an automated theater spotlight, a camera boom for young explorers, and a way to stay germ-free in public restrooms.
